Annual Report 2024
(January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024)
Executive Summary

Wellness Recovery (WR) concluded its fifth full calendar year of operation in 2024, continuing its mission to provide compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals with substance use disorders. Recognizing addiction as a brain-based disease requiring both medical management and therapeutic intervention, WR remains committed to addressing disparities in treatment accessibility for impoverished and non-dominant culture individuals. Our dedicated team of counselors, nurses, care managers, certified recovery specialists, and medical providers delivered around-the-clock care, adhering to the highest standards set by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). In partnership with Tracy Counseling Center, WR continued to provide free inpatient and outpatient services for first responders seeking addiction treatment, acknowledging the ongoing exposure of front-line workers to traumatic stressors that increase their vulnerability to substance use disorders.
2024 was a pivotal year of transformation for WR, marked by significant advancements in both clinical programming and operational strategy. Under the leadership of Project Director and Chief Operating Officer Tyler Tracy, and Clinical Director Alexandra Leopold, WR underwent program improvements that included, new policies, procedures, and treatment initiatives that aligns with the latest regulatory standards and emerging evidence-based research. These efforts enhanced patient care quality and strengthened professional training. Additionally, WR expanded its reach by fortifying community partnerships, broadening relationships with Single County Authorities (SCAs), increasing treatment accessibility, and solidifying financial sustainability.
These strategic efforts have driven a facility-wide transformation, positioning WR as a leader in innovative, multi-system addiction treatment that extends far beyond discharge. With a strong foundation established in 2024, WR remains dedicated to continuous growth in 2025, refining and expanding its impact within the community. Our integrated treatment model combines medical management with individualized therapeutic care. Under the leadership of Medical Director and Psychiatrist Dr. Savita Rao, WR’s medical team provided evidence-based psychiatric and medical support, managing withdrawal symptoms, addressing mental health needs, and promoting overall well-being. WR medical providers use medications for opiate use disorder that shut down withdraw symptoms, reduce cravings, and promote long term recovery. Our psychiatric staff also evaluate and provide medications that manage the emotional aspect of our clients. Recognizing the critical link between mental health and addiction, WR’s approach includes individual counseling, group therapy, peer support, life skills training, and psychoeducational programming. Additionally, WR maintained its commitment to seamless transitions of care through warm handoffs to outpatient providers and community resources, ensuring patients receive ongoing support throughout their recovery journey.
To ensure the highest quality of care, WR staff engaged in a wide range of specialized training sessions tailored to their roles and professional development needs. These included CPR/First Aid, Naloxone Administration, Confidentiality Policies, Infectious Disease Control, Motivational Interviewing, Crisis Intervention & De-escalation, and Harm Reduction. Professional staff further deepened their expertise through advanced training in Xylazine awareness, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), treatment planning, health disparities in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, co-occurring conditions, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), trauma-informed care, and culturally competent counseling practices. Additionally, several support staff members achieved certification as Certified Recovery Specialists (CRS), combining their lived experience with professional training to provide invaluable peer support. Their unique perspective enhances WR’s treatment approach, strengthening our ability to offer compassionate, comprehensive care and serve as a vital resource for patients navigating recovery.
While WR is relatively small for an inpatient facility, its impact is significant. In 2024, a total of 314 unique individuals received treatment, reflecting a 24% increase in admissions from the previous year (345 admissions in 2024 compared to 278 in 2023). Among those served, 288 individuals had a single admission, while 26 individuals had multiple admissions, contributing to a total of 57 additional admission stays. Patients ranged in age from 19 to 73 and represented a wide array of personal backgrounds and diverse needs. A separate section of this report provides a detailed breakdown of patient demographics, including primary substance use disorders treated. WR remains dedicated to supporting individuals in Fayette and surrounding counties with a continued pledge to deliver care in a non-judgmental, empathic, and culturally informed manner. As we look forward to the year ahead, WR reaffirms its commitment to healing, growth, and recovery.
